Turned Surface Monitoring Using a Confocal Sensor and the Tool Wear Process Optimization

Laser scanning technology has been used for several years. Nevertheless, no comprehensive study conducted to prove that the application of confocal chromatic sensor (CCHS) laser is effective and suitable verify integrity parameters machined surfaces in terms cutting tool damage. In this paper, optimization effects five factors (cutting speed, feed, depth cut, attachment length workpiece, tip radius) on roundness deviation measured by CCHS and, at same time, amount wear back side part were studied according ISO 3685, which was with a microscope. The results obtained evaluated using gray relational analysis method (GRA), conjunction Taguchi method, significance demonstrated variance (ANOVA) method.
